Book Beginning | Friday 56 | Blogger Hop || Cursor's Fury (Codex Alera #3) by Jim Butcher

Please join us over at RoseCityReader every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.

This is a weekly meme hosted by Freda's Voice
These are the rules:
1. Grab a book, any book.
2. Turn to page 56, or 56% on your eReader.
3. Find any sentence (or a few, just don't spoil it) that grabs you.
4. Post it.
5. Add the URL to your post in the link on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post.

Synopsis:
The power-hungry High Lord of Kalare has launched a rebellion against the aging First Lord, Gaius Sextus, who with the loyal forces of Alera must fight beside the unlikeliest of allies - the equally contentious High Lord of Aquitaine.
Meanwhile, young Tavi of Calderon joins a newly formed legion under an assumed name even as the ruthless Kalare unites with the Canim, bestial enemies of the realm whose vast numbers spell certain doom for Alera. When treachery from within destroys the army's command structure, Tavi finds himself leading an inexperienced, poorly equipped legion - the only force standing between the Canim horde and the war-torn realm.

Friday 56:
A quiet little voice in her thoughts told her that she should take every moment of peace and safety she could find -- because she suspected they were about to become memories.

Last week's:
Q: Have you ever forgotten to post a review?

A: Kind of, there have been times when I just had nothing to say about a book, positive or critical so just didn't bother.
******
This Week's:
Q: Do you post your reviews before publication day or wait until close to or on publication date?

A: I always try to make my reviews was spoiler-free as I can, regardless of when a book is published, but when it comes to the ARCs I get from NetGalley or Book Sirens, depending on how far away publication is, I try to get it as close as possible. There's been a couple where I got the ARC months before it was to be published and for those I write the review and have it on a scheduled post closer to the publication date.
