Synopsis:
For centuries, the people of Alera have harnessed the furies--elementals of earth, air, fire, water, wood, and metal--to protect their land from aggressors. But no fury can save them from the dangers they face within. A mysterious attack from across the sea has weakened the First Lord. Should he fall, a bloody civil war is inevitable. The responsibility of fending off assassination attempts and treachery within the First Lord's circle of spies falls on Tavi, the one man with no fury to call.
Prologue
If the beginning of wisdom is in the realizing that one knows nothing, then the beginning of understanding is in realizing that all things exist in accord with the single truth: Large things are made of smaller things.

Q: Do you use the Kindle app on your phone or iPad for reading e-books?
A: I have a kindle fire, but I also have the kindle app for my phone, just in case I'm somewhere and have to wait to have a book to read.
I like how both of those quotes dovetail so nicely.
ReplyDeleteI just use the Kindle app on my phone. As you say, it is extremely convenient.
Love that opening! I also love how it kinda links with the F56? Is that smaller force perchance part of a bigger one? I don't have the Kindle app but having it for those emergencies where no book is nearby is actually a pretty good reason to have it... I hope you have a lovely weekend and enjoy your books :)

Sounds like a great read!! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteWell, if large things are made of smaller things, than maybe that's a hostile force in the making!
ReplyDeleteI've been enjoying this series and I hope you are too.
