Book Beginning | Friday 56 | Blogger Hop || The Ninth Rain (The Winnowing Flame Trilogy #1) by Jen Williams

Please join us over at RoseCityReader every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.

This is a weekly meme hosted by Freda's Voice
These are the rules:
1. Grab a book, any book.
2. Turn to page 56, or 56% on your eReader.
3. Find any sentence (or a few, just don't spoil it) that grabs you.
4. Post it.
5. Add the URL to your post in the link on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post.

I completely spaced on posting last week.

Synopsis:
The great city of Ebora once glittered with gold. Now its streets are stalked by wolves. Tormalin the Oathless has no taste for sitting around waiting to die while the realm of his storied ancestors falls to pieces - talk about a guilt trip. Better to be amongst the living, where there are taverns full of women and wine.
When eccentric explorer, Lady Vincenza 'Vintage' de Grazon, offers him employment, he sees an easy way out. Even when they are joined by a fugitive witch with a tendency to set things on fire, the prospect of facing down monsters and retrieving ancient artefacts is preferable to the abomination he left behind.
But not everyone is willing to let the Eboran empire collapse, and the adventurers are quickly drawn into a tangled conspiracy of magic and war. For the Jure'lia are coming, and the Ninth Rain must fall.

Q:  How many books have you read this year?

A: As of now about 90, and I'll probably get a couple more read by the end of the month.

  1. We're roughly tracking the same for books read, although me actually getting this far is largely due to being back at university xD I do like the sound of 'The Ninth Rain', I'm a big fan of fugitive witches with fire-issues! Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a lovely weekend :)
