Book Beginning | Friday 56 | Blogger Hop || Witches Steeped in Gold (Witches Steeped in Gold #1) by Ciannon Smart

Please join us over at RoseCityReader every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.

This is a weekly meme hosted by Freda's Voice
These are the rules:
1. Grab a book, any book.
2. Turn to page 56, or 56% on your eReader.
3. Find any sentence (or a few, just don't spoil it) that grabs you.
4. Post it.
5. Add the URL to your post in the link on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post.

Requesting this book from the library months ago worked to my advantage.

Synopsis:
Divided by their order. United by their vengeance.
Iraya has spent her life in a cell, but every day brings her closer to freedom—and vengeance.
Jazmyne is the Queen’s daughter, but unlike her sister before her, she has no intention of dying to strengthen her mother’s power.
Sworn enemies, these two witches enter a precarious alliance to take down a mutual threat. But power is intoxicating, revenge is a bloody pursuit, and nothing is certain—except the lengths they will go to win this game.

Book Beginning:
Jazmyne
Though the night is flush with stars, the sky still seems like a lid of earth closing atop a grave.

Friday 56:
"If you're unwilling to talk, that's fine. You can listen." His hand darts out, quick as a hawk with its prey in sight, and grabs me. "I have something to teach you too." He's close enough to be a lover — or Death.

Q: Do you do most of your blog work on a computer, iPad, or phone?

A: I use, what seems to be these days, an old-fashioned desktop PC.
I am forever impressed with people who do all their editing, whether it be a blog or videos with a phone/tablet and not a computer/laptop.

  2. I mainly use my laptop for blogging, but I do use my phone for photo editing as I like the apps on my phone more than on my computer! I'm not a huge fan of the tablet, but will use it every now and then.

Have a good weekend and enjoy your book!

  4. Sounds intense. The first line drew me right in. Requesting early from the library is a wonderful strategy because the good new ones can get bogged down with holds.
