Top Ten Tuesday: Halloween Freebie - Books I Wanted to Read This October

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish,
Now, hosted by Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl
To take part, just pick your top ten, and add the link here.
I was going to do a list on spooky creatures, but I did that list last year, as well as all the other clever ideas I can think of. So I'm just gonna go with something really simple and not spooky (maybe a little spooky since I only finished 2 books this month, and DNF'd... 4, I think) or Halloween related, which is kind of a bummer. But it's also been hard for me to get into the spooky season this year. I didn't get to many books this month, been pretty dang busy most of the week, not really going to get into it.
-----

Wicked King by Holly Black -  Started it, not finished yet, still reading it. I really need to spend more of my free time reading so I can finish it. Hopefully, by the end of the week.

These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong - I have read one page, there is nothing "wrong" with the book. It all boils down to time, and my lack of it.

Archenemies by Marissa Meyer - I had been holding off to have the third book to read this one, because I wasn't blown away with the first book, and I wasn't invested enough to wait to read the third book... that was long winded, but I have the third book, I think I only recently got the third book, but still, I wanted to get to it and I hope that things improve for my enjoyment.

A Heart So Fierce and Broken by Brigid Kemmerer - Also a book that I only recently got, but that is hardly the point. I have been a fan of Kemmerer's books/writing since Storm, very underrated imo. Technically had I had the eBook for months, but I wanted to have the physical copy. But I could have read this book already.

House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas - I've had this book since it came out, and I had hoped to get to it soon. Maybe next month.

The Shadow Hour by Melissa Grey - Read book one back in 2015, re-read it earlier this year. At first it was because I was going to buddy-read this with a friend of mine, but she has about as much free time to read as I do, so that never happened. I wanted to start this months ago, but here I am.

Grave Peril by Jim Butcher - I don't even have the excuse of being on a wait-list at the library. I just haven't looked into it.

Blood's Pride by Evie Manieri - I've had this book for about 2 years at this point and I still haven't read it. What am I?

Beyond The Grave by C.J. Archer - Another book I own but just haven't read yet. I have the entire series on my kindle. I could just read them like I'd been wanting to.

The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson - To be honest, I am intimated by this book. I have it on my kindle, but part of me wants to have a physical copy... but I also know that is me making excuses to not start it. If I had a physical copy, even a floppy paperback, I would want the ebook or some nonsense.

Rebel Rose by Emma Theriault - NetGalley book, it comes out next month, but I wanted to at least start it this month.

  3. This looks like a great list for October. Maybe you can extend it to November since it will still be fall and we've only got this week left.

  5. Great list! I'm still reading the Cruel Prince, so it'll be a while before I read Wicked King.

  7. My reading has been down this whole year! I think I figured why today. Reading requires the ability to focus, and it's hard to focus during a pandemic when your husband is home all day and the kids keep wandering in to talk to him.

I really liked The Wicked King.

  8. I had so many books I wanted to get to this October and it just did NOT happen, so I completely understand this post.
