Book Beginning | Friday 56 | Friday 50/50 | Blogger Hop | The Fallen Kingdom (The Falconer #3) by Elizabeth May || Most/Least Materialistic Character

Please join us over at RoseCityReader every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.

This is a weekly meme hosted by Freda's Voice
These are the rules:
1. Grab a book, any book.
2. Turn to page 56, or 56% on your eReader.
3. Find any sentence (or a few, just don't spoil it) that grabs you.
4. Post it.
5. Add the URL to your post in the link on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post.

After finally finishing the second book in this series, it would have happened sooner but I kept getting books from the waitlist at the library, I have started the third and final book.

Synopsis:
She’s on borrowed time…and she has only one chance to set things right.
Find life.
Deep in a forest, Aileana Kameron claws her way out of the earth. Back from the dead with no memory of who she is or what has happened to her, the Falconer now possesses even greater otherworldly powers and a ruthless instinct to kill—and the one piece of knowledge that can change everything.
Find Kiaran.
Two fae monarchs, Aithinne and Kadamach, stand on the brink of war, and according to an ancient curse, one must die at the hand of the other or all the worlds will perish. Once, Kadamach was known as Kiaran, and he was mentor, protector, and lover to Aileana. Now, under the grip of the curse, his better nature seems lost forever.
Find the book.
Aileana’s only hope lies in the legendary Book of Remembrance, a book of spells so powerful that it can break the fae curse and even turn back time. But the book has been lost for centuries, and many are looking for it, including its creator, the Morrigan—a faery of terrifying malevolence and cruelty.
Sacrifice everything.
To obtain the book and defeat the Morrigan, Aileana must form an unthinkable alliance, one that challenges every vow she has made to herself—even as the powers that brought her to life are slowly but surely killing her.

Book Beginning:
I am the beginning of a girl: her throat filled with ash, desperately clawing her way from the earth with weak, trembling limbs and an urgent message on her lips

Friday 56:
"What about the other fae?" I interrupt. "The ones under Lonnrach's command and the ones in with the humans in Derrick's city. Was there any word from them?"

50/50 Friday is a new weekly link-up hosted by Carrie @ The Butterfly Reader and Laura @ Blue Eye Books.  Every week they have a new topic featuring two sides of the same coin - you share a book that suits each category and link up on the hosts' blogs.

This weeks' topic is Least and Most Materialistic.

Least
Nona Gray from The Book of the Ancestor trilogy by Mark Lawrence.
She's a nun, also an assassin, but still a nun. They don't own much.

Most
Aelin from Throne of Glass series.
Let's be real, she was pretty materialistic through most of the series.

Q: What is your favorite Christmas themed fiction or nonfiction book?

A: A Christmas Carol, I guess. I don't really read themed books. But, 'A Christmas Carol' is an interesting tale because it has horror elements to it and life lessons.
I'm not a festive person.
