Friday 56 | Book Beginning | Friday 50/50 | Blogger Hop | The Weight of a Soul by Elizabeth Tammi || Favorite/Least Favorite Horror Film

Please join us over at RoseCityReader every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.

This is a weekly meme hosted by Freda's Voice
These are the rules:
1. Grab a book, any book.
2. Turn to page 56, or 56% on your eReader.
3. Find any sentence (or a few, just don't spoil it) that grabs you.
4. Post it.
5. Add the URL to your post in the link on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post.

Synopsis:
When Lena's younger sister Fressa is found dead, their whole Viking clan mourns—but it is Lena alone who never recovers. Fressa is the sister that should've lived, and Lena cannot rest until she knows exactly what killed Fressa and why—and how to bring her back. She strikes a dark deal with Hela, the Norse goddess of death, and begins a new double life to save her sister.
But as Lena gets closer to bringing Fressa back, she dredges up dangerous discoveries about her own family, and finds herself in the middle of a devastating plan to spur Ragnarök –a deadly chain of events leading to total world destruction.
Still, with her sister's life in the balance, Lena is willing to risk it all. She's willing to kill. How far will she go before the darkness consumes her?

Book Beginning:
Amal thrust his axe just shy of Fressa's right shoulder.

Friday 56:
Was this a tactic to disarm her?

50/50 Friday is a new weekly link-up hosted by Carrie @ The Butterfly Reader and Laura @ Blue Eye Books.  Every week they have a new topic featuring two sides of the same coin - you share a book that suits each category and link up on the hosts' blogs.

This week, the topic is Favorite/Least Favorite Horror Film

I don't really watch horror movies, so this might be hard to pick a favorite.

Favorite
I guess technically a thriller, but this is one of few that I like.

Least
This is just a bad movie across the board. Bad acting, boring plot.

Q: Do you read classics? If so, what is your favorite?

A: No, I haven't read any classics since the required reading era of High School. The only one I didn't completely hate was Fahrenheit 451.

  1. I actually still haven't read Fahrenheit 451 but do mean to get around to it! And the remake of The Wickerman was almost bad enough to be hilarious, but not quite! I'll be checking out 'The Weight of a Soul' though since Norse mythology is right up my alley! Have a lovely weekend and do drop by my Friday Post if you have the time!

  2. I haven't heard of Weight of a Soul before but the Norse mythology with Vikings has me putting it on my Want to Read shelf. Sounds super interesting. I hope you have a great weekend!

  6. Bit late to the party this week ;-) sorry. I've read classic literature over the years but these days I'm looking for more light entertainment. ;-)
I hope you enjoy the rest of your week, Marie. Here's my BBH Post
