Top Ten Tuesday: Unpopular Bookish Opinions

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish,
And moved to That Artsy Reader Girl
To take part, just pick your top ten, and add the link here.

1. Just because a book is a classic, doesn't mean it's good.

2. I don't think Tolkien was a very good author. I prefer the Lord  of the Rings movies over the books. But The Hobbit movie was trash (I only watched the first one, because that book isn't long enough to have three movies)

3. I hate seeing books organized by color. Books in the same series should be next to each other on the shelf.

4. All of John Green and Rainbow Rowell's books sound boring.

5. Duologies are the best kind of series. While I have enjoyed some longer series', most are too long. And you can tell when the author forgot what the series was supposed to be about and the series has gone on too long. :cough:throneofglass:cough:
Even though I still ind of love Sarah J. Maas books.

6. Sci-fi is a boring genre. Either the author is lazy with explaining things, or they go too far and over-write the plot and make it convoluted.

7. I don't hate when a book has a love triangle, I just hate how they are done most of the time.

8. I won't read a book that is labeled "feminist". While I expect to get some backlash from this, I just don't like being told what is feminist. Because there doesn't really seem to be a consensus. Half think femininity is bad, the other think that women should dress and behave how they want. And both sides tell each other they aren't a feminist for not viewing feminism they way they do. So I just avoid the subject and read what I want.

9. While most agree that men are often bad at writing women, Women are pretty bad at writing men. They are very one-note characters.

10. I don't always finish a book series, even if I liked the first book. And I don't feel bad or like I'm missing out when I do that.

  1. Yeah, not every classic is good. Some of them were good 100+ years ago, but there does come a time when certain books no longer speak to the average person the way they did generations ago.

I don't see this as a shameful or regrettable thing at all. It's just part of the evolution of society.

    My TTT.

  2. I'm not a fan of shelves organized by color either.

  3. I can't figure out how people would find books if they're organized by color, to tell the truth!

  4. Totally agree about the feminist thing. Because it means something different to nearly everyone I get tired of being told that my version is wrong because I'm a stay at home mum. So I also stay away from feminist books.
