Synopsis:
Following a bloody battle against foes on every side, Paige Mahoney has risen to the dangerous position of Underqueen, ruling over London's criminal population.
But, having turned her back on Jaxon Hall and with vengeful enemies still at large, the task of stabilizing the fractured underworld has never seemed so challenging.
Little does Paige know that her reign may be cut short by the introduction of Senshield, a deadly technology that spells doom for the clairvoyant community and the world as they know it…
This took me forever to finish. Not having the time to really delve into this book the way I wanted to, and the way this book needs to be read as far as I'm concerned, it took me about 2.5 months longer to read than it should have. Thankfully, none of that made it hard to keep track of what was happening.
This book was so intense, a roller-coaster, the best one in the series so far in my opinion. It's a little difficult to put into words, partly because of how long it took me to read it and partially because this book had no chill, and I don't want to spoil anything.
Paige really came into her own in this book. She really stepped up to her leadership role and was willing to take the types of risks a leader should to get the job done. Granted at times her risks cost her, but she always owned those mistakes. Even when the chance to was taken from her by outside sources.
I am on the fence about the real motives of the other Rathen. Their long-term goals are less clear to me, granted this could be from me forgetting their first introduction to the books. It's been a while since I've read Mime. But they are still, for the most part, shrouded in mystery.

I feel that a good majority of people in the Syndicate were too hard on her when things went sideways. I don't think they fully understand the dangers that lied ahead. I think they were happy with being ignorant of those dangers. "Ignorance is bliss" and all that.
There is so much to talk about with this book, but so much of it is spoilers.
I am really excited to read the next book when it comes out.
