Synopsis:
They overcame his mother's plots and broke both their curses, but can they survive his inheritance?
Amira Brindonu has won. The man she loves has been freed from his curse and her mother's people have chosen to ally with their cause.
Even as Amira and Daindreth celebrate victory and Thadred grows in his power as a sorcerer, trouble stirs on the horizon. Not everyone is ready to recognize the rightful heir. Vesha's reign brought the empire peace and prosperity. Many lords and barons must be convinced if they are to swear allegiance to Daindreth.
Meanwhile, Vesha seeks out greater power. In a desperate effort to protect the empire, she will make yet another deal with a fallen goddess. And this time, Vesha is willing to sacrifice anything and anyone—even herself.

This is a series that while I really enjoy, there are aspects that I wish got a little more attention. They feel almost too short, by maybe 20 pages. From the start this series comes across very much like insta-love. But it doesn't really bother me much in this series for some reason. It might have a lot to do with the FMC maintaining her personality and agency even after falling for the MMC.
Amira is the embodiment of Female rage, for sure. This is the one very few books that feature an angry FMC, where her rage feels real and something beyond surface level. I've read other books with FMC's who are supposed to be angry, but they read like characters written by someone who's never felt real rage because in those books we keep being told how angry they are by life's injustice.
I don't know if this is because of how MMCs are typically written, but Daindreth, at times, comes across as "white bread" of a character. He's extremely noble, and very kind. He loves Amira because of and in spite of her anger. He understands why she's angry and doesn't tell her that it's unjustified. He supports her rights and her wrongs.
Vesha, I want to hate her. But the more POV chapters she gets the more it's clear that she was manipulated in some way, and is slowly becoming less and less of the real villain. I want her to lose, but I don't want her to die.
