I had to think about this a little. Most of the books that I've read and enjoyed and haven't talked about much, I talked about a lot when I first read them. Just not a lot recently.
This list is in no particular order.
Eve & Adam by Michael Grant and Katherine Applegate - This book got some negative reviews when it came out. The idea of a teenaged girl creating the "perfect" boy made people uncomfortable. But perhaps this book was just a little ahead of it's time. It was more than a story of a girl making the perfect guy. I don't remember if this was one of the books I kept or donated after reading, as I do with books I initially don't plan on re-reading. But if I decide to give this one another look I'll just check with my library.
Deadly Sweet by Lola Dodge - This one I think I actually talked about a lot when I first read it, as I did with the sequel. Book three seems to still be slated to come out, but I have no idea when. Hopefully soon.
Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones - I don't remember mentioning this book hardly at all when I read it 3 years ago. I still need to pick up the next book. After a quick skim of my review, it was the writing that I loved the most. The characters and the plot were both just fine, nothing special for me.
Perfected by Kate Jarvik Birch - I enjoyed the whole series. It's probably one of, if not the most, disturbing and honestly messed up Dystopian series' out there. Just read the synopsis and decide from there if it's something you'd want to read. It might have themes that make people uncomfortable.
Princess of Tyrone by Katie Hamstead - Retelling of Sleeping Beauty, but in space on an alien world. The whole series as well. The books are interconnected but told out of order. A fourth books as supposed to come out, but it's been a few years since the third and I don't know if it's still going to come out or not.
Sea Witch by Sarah Henning - More or less, this was an origin story for Ursula, and I remember really loving it, but I don't think I really talked about it much after I reviewed it.
Give the Dark My Love by Beth Revis - I really love when books explore morality. And this book really delves into when to draw lines of when doing something bad for the "right" reasons is going too far.
The Dragon Tamer by Ava Richardson - I've read a lot of her books, and I like all of them, but I think this series is one that I enjoyed the most across the board.
The Last Necromancer by C.J. Archer - It's got steampunk, it's got necromancy, it's has a strong-willed and intelligent female lead. Who couldn't love this series/book. (I haven't continued/finished it because there are 10 books and my library has all but one and I can't afford to spend 5-6$ on 10 ebooks right now)
The Shadow Revolution by Clay and Susan Griffith - Victorian era Urban Fantasy with a dash of Steampunk thrown in there. This series also has a strong-willed intelligent female character. She's a badass. I wish this was more than just three books.
I remember Sea Witch looked good, and I've heard good things about Beth Revis' books too.
ReplyDeleteI didn't really like either Wintersong or Sea Witch, but I'm glad you enjoyed them!

I think I remember those negative reviews Eve and Adam got when it came out, but I may have to give it a try someday.
