Top Ten Tuesday: Books I'd Want on a Deserted Island

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish,

To take part, just pick your top ten, and add the link here.

Here's the thing... I read so few books outside fantasy as it is, and I like even fewer of them. So, I decided to do a throwback topic from June 2010. I am going to cheat a little, and go with series'... because it's my blog and who's going to stop me?

1) Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy by Laini Taylor -  I could re-read this series forever. It is SO GOOD.

2) Harry Potter series by JK Rowling -  Of course, this was going to end up here. I haven't finished my re-read yet. I stopped at Goblet, but I want to finish that re-read.

3) The Young Elites trilogy by Marie Lu - Legend trilogy holds a special place in my heart because Day and June are everything, but this trilogy has really rich lore to it and I love worldbuilding.

4) Legacy of Orïsha Series by Tomi Adeyemi -  Even though there's only one book out, I know this is a series I am going to want forever.

5) Book of the Ancestor by Mark Lawrence - Currently reading the third book. With this series, I feel like it's one where every time you read it you catch small things that you missed the first time. It's a book where the worldbuilding is woven with such intricacy that you barely notice it.

6) The Savior's Series by Jena Moreci - Another one where only one book is out, but it doesn't matter because I know the series is going to be amazing. I don't even know how many books there are going to be, and I don't care because I still know I'm going to read all of them. I know she's writing the second book right now (also she has a writing channel on YouTube and you all should follow her, she's hilarious and has great writing advice)

7) Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden -  Another one with outstanding worldbuilding and beautiful writing.

8) Grishaverse by Leigh Bardugo - Yes, I know this is completely cheating... that's almost 10 books right there. But it's kind of hard to want to read just one book in the series, or just one of the series in the entirety of the world it's set in.

9) Winner's Trilogy by Marie Rutkoski - I made the mistake of reading the books in this trilogy back to back. It broke me a little. Especially because of the end of book 2, I had a mini wait from my library for the third book, and I could hardly stand it.

10) Unraveling You series by Jessica Sorensen -  The only contemporary to make it on my list. But this series has one of my favorite romance tropes. Best friends to lovers. And it's done so beautifully. I love Lyric and Aiden. They are fantastic characters.

Honorable mention...

The Rosemary Beach series by Abbi Glines - Because I'm going to need kindling at some point. I admit to giving some of the books some fairly high ratings, but... that last book sullied the whole series for me.

  1. Excellent choices! I don't blame you at all for including series. :)
