This is, hopefully, the next owned book I get to.
Synopsis:
She is the most powerful Jinni of all. He is a boy from the streets. Their love will shake the world...
When Aladdin discovers Zahra's jinni lamp, Zahra is thrust back into a world she hasn't seen in hundreds of years—a world where magic is forbidden and Zahra's very existence is illegal. She must disguise herself to stay alive, using ancient shape-shifting magic, until her new master has selected his three wishes.
But when the King of the Jinn offers Zahra a chance to be free of her lamp forever, she seizes the opportunity—only to discover she is falling in love with Aladdin. When saving herself means betraying him, Zahra must decide once and for all: is winning her freedom worth losing her heart?
As time unravels and her enemies close in, Zahra finds herself suspended between danger and desire in this dazzling retelling of Aladdin from acclaimed author Jessica Khoury.
Book Beginning:
I sense the boy the moment he sets foot into the cave.
Friday 56:
Irritably I look away. "I don't know what you're talking about."

50/50 Friday is a new weekly link-up hosted by Carrie @ The Butterfly Reader and Laura @ Blue Eye Books. Every week they have a new topic featuring two sides of the same coin - you share a book that suits each category and link up on the hosts' blogs.
This week's topic: Character Most/Least Likely to Join a Motorcycle Gang
Most Likely
Jesper Fahey, Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo
Of all the Crows, besides Kaz, he seemed to enjoy "the life" the most. He's a bit of a thrill-seeker.
Least Likely
Anise Wise, Spellwork Syndicate by Lola Dodge
She just isn't the type to be in a gang. All she wants to do is learn magic and bake. She doesn't really like excitement, even though ever since she moved in with her Great Aunt she's had to deal with nothing but...

Q: Have you ever wished that there were official government bookish holidays, and that, by law, employers HAD to give their workers a paid day off? If so, what kind of bookish holiday would you like to have?
I'm intrigued just by it being an Aladdin retelling. :-) Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteOhhh great choices!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up and have a great weekend!
I wouldn't be happy with being made to take a day off to read even though I love reading...
ReplyDeleteI haven't read either of the books the characters your 50/50 are featured in. Although they are on my wish list! I'd probably have to go with the obvious: Ian Walsh from Fan the Flames because he's already in a motorcycle club and rides. My least likely would be Nina Hill from Bookish Life of Nina Hill. I can't see her riding a motorcycle.
ReplyDeleteThe Forbidden Wish sounds really good! I love that opening line.
I like your thinking! Paid time off to attend a bookish event... I don't know if my employer would go for that given I don't work in a book related field. But one can dream...
Have a great weekend, Marie!
Sounds like an interesting retelling.
