Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books We Meant To Read In 2017 But Didn't Get To

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish,
To take part, just pick your top ten or so, and add the link here.

I have more than 20 books I wanted to read last year that I didn't get to for one reason or another. I want to get to at least 5 of them this year. Along with the books I am sharing, I have other books that I need to read for review purposes first, and I want to finish re-reading Harry Potter this year.
Once again, the list is in no particular order, and the covers are linked to the Goodreads page.

  1. Those Bardugo books have some interesting cover art!

  2. Leigh Bardugo's books are some I *should* have added to my post this week too. They sound amazing, and get so many rave reviews. Perhaps 2018 will be THE year!! :)

    1. The Grisha world she created has some of the best world building I have encountered in a long time.

  3. I forgot to put down Tales From the Shadowhunter Academy! Ah well! Maas' Tower of Dawn is on mine - I did end up reading Empire of Storms this year (my spoiler free review is here, if you need some motivation to read the book: https://clockworkbibliotheca.blogspot.com/2017/05/ya-in-review-empire-of-storms-sarah-j.html). My TTT is here if you want to take a look: https://clockworkbibliotheca.blogspot.com/2018/01/five-books-i-meant-to-read-in-2017-but.html

    1. I'm on the fence on if I want to read Chaol's book, I've never had an easy time liking his character. Just a touch too self-righteous for me. But I have a feeling that reading his book will be important for the one that comes after so skipping it might not be a good idea.

  4. I tried to read Empire of Storms but for some reason, it just wasn't working for me. I hope you enjoy these books when you do get around to them.

    1. I've heard that from a lot of people actually, though most people use the "P" word when talking about it (problematic), but never really go into great detail of why, I guess to avoid spoilers for people that do still want to read it. I just hope it's as good as I want it to be.

  5. I started The Grisha trilogy last year, and absolutely fell in love with the world. This year I definitely want to pick up Six of Crows.

    1. Yeah, I've had both books from Six of Crows on my shelf for over a year, I keep not reading them. I don't like having unread books on my shelf, and now I have over 10. The Witches Daughter I've had for almost three years now. I really need to get on it.

    1. Thank you for taking time to comment. My hope is to get through at least half these books this year. If I can read half of them, then I will feel like a success.

    1. I've had The Witches Daughter for almost three years. I have no reason as to why I haven't already read it.

  8. I love Strange the Dreamer but I must warn you it ends on a cliff-hanger. Good luck with your list. My TTT list

    1. Hope it doesn't take too long for the sequel to come out then. I like a good cliffhanger, as long as it's only a year max between books.

  9. Six of Crows and The Song Rising were two of my favourite books I read in 2017! I'm planning on reading Crooked Kingdom this year too, hope we both enjoy it :)

    1. Considering how I feel about Bardugo's Grisha series, I have high hopes that I will love the Six of Crows books. As for Song Rising, the writing in the series is so good, that I think it will be a favorite for me as well. I will forever be happily surprised at how well the writing is in her books, for somebody so young. She's I think 24, and writes like a seasoned writer.

  10. I’ve had the Leigh Bardugo series on my TBR list since before they came out. I sill haven’t read them. I hope you get a chance to read all these!
