LUCIA: The young sorceress has had her vengeance after the cruel death of her first and only love. Heartbroken and unable to trust anyone, she allies with the awoken Fire god, who also seeks revenge.
JONAS: After escaping death by the skin of his teeth, the defeated rebel—along with a mysterious stranger–leader reunites with Princess Cleo, only to find himself a mere pawn in a dangerous hunt for the elusive Kindred.
KING GAIUS: Abandoned by Melenia and betrayed by his own children, Gaius flees Mytica and sails to Kraeshia, where he attempts to ally with the famously brutal emperor across the Silver Sea.

Review:

So, I finally finished this book. Started this book in August, Then life stuff happened, and then I lost interest in reading this book for a spell. Kind fell to a bit of a reading slump, and I didn't have the time to sit down and dive into this book the way I wanted to. So I set it aside until I did have the time to.

I really, really loved this book. some of what happened in the first half, before I stopped reading, is a little foggy. But, the second half, the half I remember, was fantastic. There were things I actually didn't see coming, and things that I was hoping for.

I am still not a huge fan of Jonas or Nic. They pretend to be these noble people, but they are really rather selfish. Nic just really hate Magnus and his family, granted for very good reasons, but he doesn't really think about the big picture. He only wants to kill Magnus and his father no matter the consequences it might have in the long run. He doesn't think about who would take up the Limerian throne, and if that person would be better than Gaius or if there's a chance they could be just as bad if not worse.
Jonas is fueled purely by vengeance. He tries to make alliances with anyone he thinks will join his cause. He is also quite fickle. Saying he loves one girl, yet kissing another. I don't really trust him that much, and I don't think he is trustworthy.

This is why Magnus is my favorite. Well, one of the reasons. But he might be kind of, understatement, a jerk, but he always shows who he is. For the most part. He portrays himself to be more selfish that he actually is. He is really noble in why he does what he does. He doesn't do it purely for selfish reasons and when he is being selfish he unashamedly admits it. He also is just a really well-written complex character. And I am really loving how things are turning out for him.

Lucia was pretty annoying for most of the book. She tries really hard to be cold and heartless, but she still does care about people in general. She just kind of hates the man that raised her, it's justified hate. But she was pretty insufferable for a good portion of the book.

I really dislike Amara, and I really hope she gets what's coming to her. There are better, less evil ways to get what you want in life. But she just steps on anybody and everybody that could possibly get in her way. I also still hate Gaius. I hope he stays comatose for a while, his character is becoming fairly obsolete with how certain things have turned out.

I really wish I had the 5th book on hand. But alas, I have to wait to get it. We recently purchased a condo and money is kind of tight for a bit so, no extra things meaning no books for me. Unless the book fairy grants me money to get myself books.
