Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Websites I Love That Aren't About Books

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.
To take part, just pick your top ten, and add the link here.

The Thoughts Room. This site is great for when my brain gets overloaded and I need to release thoughts. It helps with my anxiety from time to time as well.

RP Generators. It's a fun little site that might also serve as a writing prompt aid. You just type in two random characters from anything, and it generates a scenario. For example, I typed in Red Riding Hood and Peter Pan, and got this:
"Red Riding Hood accidentally drinks a love potion and falls for Peter Pan"

A Soft Murmur. Sometimes when I'm reading or writing, or even trying to fall asleep I like to listen to ambient sounds over music. This site also has an app, but not all the sounds are available for free with the app, so I just pull it up on my tablet through chrome and listen to it that way. (I'm cheap and don't want to spend a dollar on a sound I can get for free by using the internet browser)

Wattpad. I have yet to write and post anything on this site because I don't really know how the rights stuff works, and I am not completely comfortable with posting original stuff just yet. But I enjoy reading people's content.

HPFF. My favorite Harry Potter Fanfiction site. I found this website before the 6th Harry Potter book came out and started reading/writing around that time too. I have about half a story posted, I don't know if I want to tell you what it is. But, since the movies/the books are done with, my favorite authors on there have kind of stopped posting, which makes me a little sad because one story, in particular, was really good and I wanted to know how it ended. I am a nerd.

Pinch Me. This is a site where you can request samples of mostly household items for free. They don't even charge a shipping fee.

Blogger University. I love this site. It is very helpful with refreshing my memory of how to HTML.

I was trying not to use vague broad sites, but I am running out of specific websites.

Tumblr. This site has a lot of different content. I follow a decent number of food blogs on Tumblr, as well as a lot of cat and puppy blogs. (The link is to a post of something I created with my husband. I personally think it's really funny but is possibly an outdated meme.)

Pinterest. It's hard not to love Pinterest. I mostly use it to find recipe ideas and occasionally some DIY stuff.

ETSY. There is a lot of cute stuff on Etsy. And I really love that it's stuff that regular folks make and not some big company. You know thought and care go into their products.

  1. I recently came across Etsy while searching for accessories and I must say, I really love the handmade things the users come up with.

  3. I have always been a little unsure of Wattpad too. I don't feel like I understand it enough to actually post stuff on it. Pinterest and Etsy made my list this week too, I spend so much time (and money!) on them both!

  6. I've never heard of The Thoughts Room but I just clicked on it and that's a cool little site. I'll be exploring that in the future. RP Generators and A Soft Murmur are new to me too. I like ambient music so A Soft Murmur might be one I like... great list!
