Friday 56 and Book Beginnings: Winter (The Lunar Chronicles #4) by Marissa Meyer

This is a weekly meme hosted by Freda's Voice
These are the rules:
1. Grab a book, any book.
2. Turn to page 56, or 56% on your eReader.
3. Find any sentence (or a few, just don't spoil it) that grabs you.
4. Post it.
5. Add the URL to your post in the link on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post.

Please join us over at RoseCityReader every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.

Synopsis:
Princess Winter is admired by the Lunar people for her grace and kindness, and despite the scars that mar her face, her beauty is said to be even more breathtaking than that of her stepmother, Queen Levana.
Winter despises her step-mother, and knows Levana won’t approve of her feelings for her childhood friend—the handsome palace guard, Jacin. But Winter isn’t as weak as Levana believes her to be and she’s been undermining her stepmother’s wishes for years. Together with the cyborg mechanic, Cinder, and her allies, Winter might even have the power to launch a revolution and win a war that’s been raging for far too long.
Can Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter defeat Levana and find their happily ever afters?

Book Beginnings:
Winter's toes had become ice cubes. They were as cold as space. As cold as the dark side of Luna. As cold as--
"....security feeds captured him entering the AR-Central med-clinic's sublevels at 23:00 U.T.C,,,"
Thoughts:
Winter is a pretty interesting character. I don't really know what is going on with her at this point but I am excited to find out.

My 56:
"Of course." Drawing in a deep breath, she grabbed her portscreen and headed towards the galley.
    "Cress?"
She paused and turned back, but Wolf was looking at the floor, his arms crossed. He looked about as awkward as she usually felt.
     "Thank you."
Thoughts:
There weren't many good choices for a 56. But I really like this exchange between Cress and Wolf.

  1. Wolf is one of my favorite characters from the Lunar Chronicles. I haven't read Winter yet, so I'm curious to see where the 56 fits in with the story.

  3. I adore this series. One of the few retellings I've read and it would be wonderful to see these books as movies.
