This is a weekly meme hosted by Freda's Voice
These are the rules:
1. Grab a book, any book.
2. Turn to page 56, or 56% on your eReader.
3. Find any sentence (or a few, just don't spoil it) that grabs you.
4. Post it.
5. Add the URL to your post in the link on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post.
Please join us over at RoseCityReader every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.
Synopsis:
Paige Mahoney has escaped the brutal prison camp of Sheol I, but her problems have only just begun: many of the survivors are missing and she is the most wanted person in London...
As Scion turns its all-seeing eye on the dreamwalker, the mime-lords and mime-queens of the city's gangs are invited to a rare meeting of the Unnatural Assembly. Jaxon Hall and his Seven Seals prepare to take centre stage, but there are bitter fault lines running through the clairvoyant community and dark secrets around every corner. Then the Rephaim begin crawling out from the shadows. But where is Warden? Paige must keep moving, from Seven Dials to Grub Street to the secret catacombs of Camden, until the fate of the underworld can be decided.
Book Beginning:
It's rare that a story begins at the beginning. In the grand scheme of things, I really turned up at the beginning of the end of this one.
Page 56(hardcover):
"You're not my mime-lord. I don't report to you."
"But your mime-lord does." A thin smile. "I understand you two have had a quarrel."
Thoughts:
Not reading this one yet, I plan on reading it next. Though I might need to at least skim my review of the first book before doing so. It's been too long since I read The Bone Season, over a year.
I have the bone season, but I have yet to read it. It will definitely be on my list of books to conquer next year.
