This is a weekly meme hosted by Freda's Voice

These are the rules:
1. Grab a book, any book.
2. Turn to page 56, or 56% on your eReader.
3. Find any sentence (or a few, just don't spoil it) that grabs you.
4. Post it.
5. Add the URL to your post in the link on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post.

Please join us over at RoseCityReader every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.

Synopsis:
After she found her real father, life for Selah should have felt settled. But the horrors have just begun. In her broken world of toxic earth and tribal clashes, Selah must
battle the forces of nature alongside those in the Mountain who are calling for her blood. Haunted by the pain of mounting losses, she forges on, seeking her lost family and
uncovering new mysteries. But the ultimate betrayal of her own body may soon make her quest impossible as it becomes apparent that what has made her new could also drive her to a life of madness.

Book Beginning:
Day 1
A clipped sounds echoed along the cavernous street as Selah Rishon raised her foot onto a stone bench. She jerked her head up to glance around the abandoned streetscape.

Thoughts:
Hmm.. I've kind of forgotten what happpened at the end of the first book. And re-reading my review of that book, it doesn't tell me much. Also I just started this book. Should be fun remembering things as I read this book.

56% on Tablet:
Selah wanted to blurt out that Varro and Simeon had been part of a murder, but that knowledge might become a bargaining chip if it were truly a secret.

Thoguths:
Sounds exciting and very intriguing. I wonder who she's talking to and what they are planning.

  3. The book's cover promises that something catastrophic has happened. I like the way the author creates tension in the opening -- the empty streets, the unexpected sound. Sounds like a thrilling story.
My Friday post features The Beach Walkers.
