Synopsis:
The year is 2059. Nineteen-year-old Paige Mahoney is working in the criminal underworld of Scion London, based at Seven Dials, employed by a man named Jaxon Hall. Her job: to scout for information by breaking into people's minds. For Paige is a dreamwalker, a clairvoyant and, in the world of Scion, she commits treason simply by breathing.
It is raining the day her life changes for ever. Attacked, drugged and kidnapped, Paige is transported to Oxford – a city kept secret for two hundred years, controlled by a powerful, otherworldly race. Paige is assigned to Warden, a Rephaite with mysterious motives. He is her master. Her trainer. Her natural enemy. But if Paige wants to regain her freedom she must allow herself to be nurtured in this prison where she is meant to die.
'Arcturus came to stand beside me. Too close. My back stiffened.
"You should know that we sleep by day here."
I said nothing.
"You should also know that it is not my custom to take tenants."
What a nice word for prisoners.'
I loved The Bone Season! I hope you're enjoying it. :)
ReplyDeleteCheck out my 56 (with Book Beginnings).
I did. It was a really good book. I just need to get the sequel, but I'm waiting for it to go on sale.
DeleteI HAVE to read this book. I haven't read it yet and I understand there is a sequel. Argh. So many books... My Friday Posts
ReplyDeleteI heard it's going to be a 7 book series. That's a lot of books.
DeleteThis has been recommended to me. Still not sure about it. I take it that is an alien speaking to her. Kind of creepy!

I was actually really impressed with how well it was written. The author is kind of young. (I think she was around 20-21 when it was published) It was a really great read, and while there is a really mild romance in the story it takes a back seat to the rest of what is happening.
DeleteI haven't heard of this one but I'm definitely intrigued. I like her voice in the 56. It sounds like she's got a little bit of sarcasm in her.
ReplyDeleteThe protag in this book is really smart and headstrong. One of my favorite protagonists.
DeleteInteresting passage. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. Happy weekend. :)

ReplyDeleteWell technically they are Adult because of the age of the characters, but the content is YA.
