Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Disliked but Am Really Glad I Read

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish,
And has recently moved to That Artsy Reader Girl's site.
To take part, just pick your top ten, and add the link here.

Technically, this is 17 books.

Twilight Saga by Stephanie Meyer - I did not hate Twilight, but I didn't really like it either. It took 2.5 books for anything remotely exciting to happen, then the last third of the last book was boring as well with a very underwhelming ending. But this series did introduce me to the world of YA, and that lead to me finding so many books and series that I do love.

Delirium Series by Lauren Oliver and Divergent Series by Veronica Roth - I read both of these shortly after reading The Hunger Games when I was on a wave of reading Dystopian books. While I loved the first book in both series, and the second book in the Divergent series, both of these books had very weak third books that kind of ruined the whole series for me. These books showed me a "what not to do" for writing, as some of the choices made have high probability of killing a series. Although I have to say that the Delirium series was weaker, the second book was just not good at all in my opinion. Very odd writing choices.

You by Caroline Kepnes - Now, this is the only one that I didn't hate. It just scared me, because I am a wuss. Ha. But I am glad that I (attempted to) read so far outside my comfort zone. This was the first Thriller I had ever read. And it was very well written, with great and realistic characters, but alas it was too real for me.
