Review:

This was a decent ending to the series, but I kind of want more. I love these characters, and I really like the world.

However, this book felt longer than it needed to be. There was a fair amount of "info-dumping" that I don't recall being in the first book. There was a lot of what felt like excess description, small detours to what was going on around everybody.

I was also kind of annoyed that it took everybody so long to really think about what could be wrong with Asher. He was held captive, his blood drained, he keeps having weird nightmares and talking in his sleep and he was branded, along with given some kind of cryptic warning... yet nobody thought to think about what that could mean for far too long, It should have been one of the first things they took care of when they got back.

Things were mostly wrapped up, but with how fast the pace was, and not in a good way, I felt like another book was needed. There was just a touch too much faffing about for trying to stop the apparent end of the world.

I did like this series, but not as much as I wanted to. Great concept, interesting characters. It's just the pacing in this second book was a little too fast.
