This is a weekly meme hosted by Freda's Voice
These are the rules:
1. Grab a book, any book.
2. Turn to page 56, or 56% on your eReader.
3. Find any sentence (or a few, just don't spoil it) that grabs you.
4. Post it.
5. Add the URL to your post in the link on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post.
Please join us over at RoseCityReader every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.
Synopsis:
He was Ramses the Damned in ancient Egypt, but awoke in opulent Edwardian London as Dr. Ramsey, expert in Egyptology. He mixes with the aristocrats and samples their voluptuous lifestyle, but it is for his beloved, Cleopatra, that he longs, and will do anything to be with....
Book Beginning:
The camera flashes blinded him for a moment. If only he could get the photographers away.
My 56:
High noon. The dining room. Ramses sat back laughing.
50/50 Friday is a new weekly link up hosted by Carrie @ The Butterfly Reader and Laura @ Blue Eye Books. Every week they have a new topic featuring two sides of the same coin - you share a book that suits each category and link up on the hosts' blogs.
Most:
Kestrel, from The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski series.
I like it because it holds some subtle symbolism for her character.
Least:
I have to choose two for this, they are from the same book, but I hate them both equally
Pagan and Dank from Abbi Glines Existence Trilogy.
A massive fail in trying to give her characters unique names, and actually, there is an honorable mention for a third character in the series that also has a dumb name that I hate.

"Leif."
ఠ_ఠ Don't know what's going on with these names, everybody else in the series has a normal name.

I haven't read anything by Anne Rice. However, I have heard a lot of good things about her books.
ReplyDeleteShe's a great author. You can start with any of the many series she has written in her life. She has books about Vampires, and Witches, so many. This is the first book I've read by her in a long time.
DeleteI've got her latest book to read, you've just reminded me!
ReplyDeleteI love this. Thanks for sharing. :)

I've never read Anne Rice. I tried one of her earlier books and bounced off her prose. I am reading The Hunting Grounds by Katee Robert this week. Happy reading!
