Review:
So, I finally got around to reading this book. It might be that since it had been so long since reading the first two that I just felt a little disconnected to the story, but the ending to this felt just a little 'meh'.
This series is not in any way one of the best written books, but I was entertained by the first two. I liked this book, but I wasn't really a big fan of how things were wrapped up. It seemed a little clumsy, and rushed in a way.
I still have absolutely no mental image for what Penryn looks like. It might have been mentioned at one point, but I must have missed it. I actually don't remember what anybody is supposed to look like. Raffe is "gorgeous" as it was stated multiple times, to the point that I started to care even less about the story.
I don't remember the minor details of what happened in previous books since it's been so long, but I remember main plot points. I don't remember how focused those books were on the romance, but if this book is any indication this series is way too focused on romance. Their attraction, I guess I could buy. Well, her attraction to him, his to her... ehhhhh, not sure. Mainly because I have absolutely no mental image of her. That and I think the romantic plot devise of the male counterpart being ancient and a being forever thousands of years older than the girl, somehow falling for her; and her being the only woman in the history of their ancient life that they have ever been attracted to and fallen for is honestly bull. It an old tired trope, and a little weird.
The battle scenes were written strangely, I had a hard time following what was happening. A lot of characters didn't really have names that made it easy to follow who they were, and a lot of characters are very forgettable.

Sorry to hear you didn't love this! I am about to read the second book and I have really high hopes! It's been quite a while though since I've read the first book. I did hear though that the series had plans for six books, but then the publisher decided on three, which is a shame! It does explain why the ending is rushed though!
