Synopsis:
"While Thierry is away, the Morrigan will play. Snatching the crown from her daughter-in-law’s head wasn’t the motherly thing to do, but Thierry doesn’t mind trading the throne in Faerie for the ratty couch in her Texas apartment. The old crow is welcome to it. But ruling one world is not enough. The Morrigan wants an all-access pass to the mortal realm too.
An attack on the marshal’s office leaves Thierry shaken…and Shaw missing. Now the fight brewing since Thierry took up the Black Dog’s mantle has landed on her doorstep, and the only way to save the man she loves is to defend the title she never wanted."
Review:
This series has been some-what of a roller coaster. Thierry, who started out as a Fae Marshall in training, then became a contender for the Unseelie throne, hunted by fae on both sides, is now fighting side-by-side with her father in order to stop The Morrigan from taking over the human realm and to save her Incubus mate, Shaw.
She was always pretty bad-ass, and she doesn't stop in this book either. With the need to annul the marriage she was tricked into by Rook, and close the tethers from Faerie to the mortal world along the way. Thierry also gets to have some bonding time with Macsen, her father the Black Dog.
While a lot happened in this book, it wasn't non-stop action. There were no slow parts, there were a lot of learning about Faerie and how the magic Thierry inherited from Mac works, and how other Fae magic works. I really enjoyed the bonding moments between the two.
This series is awesome, I think everyone who like Urban Fantasy should check it out. I liked how the series ended, but I still want more of Thierry and Shaw. I would really love a book that details Mac's life as the Black Dog, it's all kind of a mystery. Or really anything that will shed light on the after math of Faerie, hopefully I'll get that in the series she's writing that focuses around Mai, Thierry's best friend, Mai, a Kitsune shifter.
