Synopsis
Every touch has its price
Layla Shaw is trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered life—no easy task for a seventeen-year-old who’s pretty sure things can’t get worse. Her impossibly gorgeous best friend, Zayne, is forever off-limits thanks to the mysterious powers of her soul-stealing kiss. The Warden clan that has always protected her is suddenly keeping dangerous secrets. And she can barely think about Roth, the wickedly hot demon prince who understood her in ways no one else could.
But sometimes rock bottom is only the beginning. Because suddenly Layla’s powers begin to evolve, and she’s offered a tantalizing taste of what has always been forbidden. Then, when she least expects it, Roth returns, bringing news that could change her world forever. She’s finally getting what she always wanted, but with hell literally breaking loose and the body count adding up, the price may be higher than Layla is willing to pay.

I have been looking forward to this book since I finished the first one, I needed it to the point of obsession. Ms.Armentrout has done it yet again. I have yet to read a book written by her that I don't like.

Layla, I felt really bad for her through most of this book. In the last one, she made some dumb decisions, and that made me kind of want to knock her upside the head more than once. But in this book, she was just hurting and needed comforting and understanding. But I guess in her situation how things ended up would always have been how things wound up one way or another. First, she was just a tool they used, then she was the whipping child.

Roth, oh Roth how happy I was to see you back, even though I wanted to kick him in the nuts more than once for making Layla feel bad. But deep down I knew I knew he was only acting that way not because he wanted to, but because he was being forced by something outside his control. Which is why he made me so angry.

Okay, enough about the romance. The plot was really good. I liked it, and even if I hadn't done my bad habit of reading the last sentence in a book, I still would have caught on to who the Lilin was. I mean it was pretty obvious, even without the hint I got. I liked the addition of witches, and I dislike Abbot even more than I did before. In a way he was never really a father to her, he kind of treated her like a pet.

I am really excited about where the next book is headed, and I can't wait. I know JLA asked the fans to choose who Layla ends up with, but I vote Roth. Until she was threatened, she never lied to her, and always treated her like an equal. He deserves her, not Zayne. But that's just my opinion.

  1. How would you rate the intimate scenes?
Also it says something about Layla's powers, is this a fantasy book?

    1. It's a sequel, so keep that in mind. I'd say the intimate scenes are about a four, since it was making out... No sexy-time stuff though.

    2. It's kind of an Urban fantasy. It has Demons, Angels, and Gargoyles in it.
