Friday 56 and Book Beginnings: Frozen Tides (Falling Kingdoms #4) by Morgan Rhodes

This is a weekly meme hosted by Freda's Voice
These are the rules:
1. Grab a book, any book.
2. Turn to page 56, or 56% on your eReader.
3. Find any sentence (or a few, just don't spoil it) that grabs you.
4. Post it.
5. Add the URL to your post in the link on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post.

Please join us over at RoseCityReader every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.

I am finally getting around to reading this book. Only took me close to a year.

Book Beginning:
    Prologue
The pitch black monster reached toward the young boy with horrible, long-fingered hands, pressing him down into his bed, smothering him. It did this every night. And every night, the boy was terrified.
Thoughts:
Great opening. Writing like this is why this is in my top 5 favorite series.

My 56:
The flames engulfed his mouth and face until his entire body, head to toe, became a torch. Then, suddenly, the fire turned from deep amber to brilliant blue--just as Kyan's eyes had.
Thoughts:
Wha..... I can't wait to get to this part of the book. Who and what, why and how.

  1. I love the covers for this series, but unfortunately I couldn't get into the first book. I really wanted to and I liked the prologue, but it just wasn't working for me.
