Friday 56 and Book Beginnings: A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses #2) by Sarah J. Maas

This is a weekly meme hosted by Freda's Voice
These are the rules:
1. Grab a book, any book.
2. Turn to page 56, or 56% on your eReader.
3. Find any sentence (or a few, just don't spoil it) that grabs you.
4. Post it.
5. Add the URL to your post in the link on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post.

Please join us over at RoseCityReader every Friday to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.

I have been really terrible about reading and blogging for a while now. The little guy is out for the summer, so my free time just got chopped to bits. Hopefully, I'll be able to get into the swing of things and have more time to read and all that fun stuff.
This is my first book purchase since, Christmas. Eek, I had planned on getting myself some books for my birthday a couple months ago, but I just never really got around to it, and I was trying to read the unread books I had on my shelf that I got for Christmas by then, but I still have yet to read them all.

Synopsis:
Feyre survived Amarantha's clutches to return to the Spring Court—but at a steep cost. Though she now has the powers of the High Fae, her heart remains human, and it can't forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin's people.
Nor has Feyre forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court. As Feyre navigates its dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms—and she might be key to stopping it. But only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future—and the future of a world cleaved in two.

Book Beginning:
Maybe I was broken and dark inside.
Maybe someone who'd been born whole and good would have put down the ash dagger and embraced death rather than what lay before me
Thoughts:
Great opening, I don't currently remember everything that happened in the last book. I remember key points. But after a read of my review of the last book and starting this one, it should come back.

Page 56:
I ignored the offer. Agreeing to do anything with him felt too permanent, too accepting of the bargain between us. "What do you want with me? You said you'd tell me here. So tell me."
Thoughts:
No idea what this conversation is about, but I look forward to discovering that when I read this book.

  2. This one is coming up soon on my calendar. Like you, I don't remember too much about the first book. This week I am featuring The Secret Fire by Whitaker Ringwald - the third in a middle grade paranormal adventure series. Happy reading!

  3. I feel your pain on the reading/blogging front. School being out has been rough on both of these for me as well! This one sounds really good and Maas is an author I'm really wanting to try. Hope you enjoy it and get some reading in!
