Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I'd Love To See As Movies/Tv Shows

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.

There are a lot of books becoming shows or movies these days. And sometimes they do a great job, and other times, not so much. I'm almost at a point where I want most books to stay books. But in my imagination where the book is done the way I want it, and nothing that I love about the book is left out, I wouldn't mind seeing some books adapted.

*****

I don't know if or how it would work, but I think this would make an awesome TV series. I would require it be done so the setting is in London, the way it's supposed to be, and I don't know if an American TV company could or would do that. I've only read the first book so far, but I know already that it would be awesome on screen. If
done right.

Now this one would be trickier, in a way. It would have to be a movie since it's a stand-alone book. But I worry that if it were adapted, they would make sequels where there aren't any. But if a production company could make it a one and done, then I think it would be awesome as a movie

I love this series, and the imagery I get when reading this series makes me want to see it on the Big Screen. But I also worry at the same time that it might bomb. There are certain details that I don't know how they would cross to film without looking cheesy.

I love this series, so I have mixed feelings. I'd want it on screen, but only if it were done right. I don't know if it would serve better as a show or a movie. Both have pros and cons.

This is possibly my favorite thing that Armentrout has written. The characters are awesome, and the dialog between characters feels like things people would say, except when they are talking about the Paranormal. I think this series would work best as a TV show. The first book actually reminds me of that late 90's tv show Roswell, in the best way possible.

In the world of YA Dystopian series', this is my favorite. This is the only series that even bothers to mention other countries and what is happening there, and how things there affect the American continent, and visa-versa. My only worry if this were to be adapted, is the whitewashing of Day.

I have no idea how this would be adapted. But if it could be done properly, then it would make for one damn good movie or TV show.

This would be awesome live-action. I have no idea which network wouldn't butcher it though. If a bigger one like Showtime did it, then they wouldn't have to leave out certain things that make this series not like other YA fantasy books I've read. There are almost too many books for it to be adapted though.

Ever since I've read this book, I have been thinking of how it could be adapted. I've settled on, movie. Such great writing, I don't know who could do the books justice.

TV show, or Movie. Both have the potential to be amazing or to flop. I think this might work better as a show, over a movie. But once again, if done the right way, it could be amazing.

  1. Great list! Across the Universe would be a a great tv show but it is rather similar to The 100 that is currently airing now. Throne of Glass is also on my list, it would be amazing!

  2. I didn't love the Bone Season. Is the second book better? Should I give it a shot? I thought the Bone Season was all world building and not enough plot, which makes me think maybe I should give the next one a try.

    1. I haven't read The Mime Order yet, but I believe in it's potential. TBS had some really great set up for the series, even though the romance didn't make sense to me.

  4. Throne of Glass was on my list too! I said I'd like to see it as a movie but I wouldn't mind a TV show either, as long as it was done well whichever way it was adapted.

  5. I agree with all of these! Daughter of Smoke and Bone would be incredible on screen, as would The Darkest Part of the Forest - Holly Black just writes such amazing and visual stories.
