Spring Tide by K. Dicke

Goodreads
Synopsis:
     ' “She’s here. I feel her.”
“Who’s here?”
“The one who’s mine.”
To the dismay of her family, Kris Edwards postpones college, despite a full-ride scholarship, and moves to the beach. She has a crazy feeling there’s something she has to find to figure out her life, and it’s at the coast.
She’s pretty sure that something isn’t Jericho, the too-hot surfer with amazing blue eyes. He’s way out of her league. And is that an actual electric spark that happens every time she touches him? She doesn’t have time for him—not with two jobs, a boozer neighbor, and her best friend’s stalker on the scene. Not to mention the weird black mist over the water or outside her workplace that no one seems to notice but her.
But there’s more to Jericho than Kris realizes, and she can’t blow him off so easily. He’s in tune with the magic of the tides, and only he knows of the evil that’s washed ashore and is coming for her. The closer Kris gets to him the more danger she’s in. But he can’t let her be—he’s been waiting years for her.
With Jericho by her side, Kris might find what she’s looking for. Or she might lose everything"

I received this book from NetGalley for review.

I finished this book a couple hours ago, and I am still not sure what the this book was about. It seemed like the book was being forced to be a paranormal, that I am still not 100% sure what they are.

The writing was choppy and I had a hard time following and staying interested in what was going on. The story jumps around a bunch, and when it switches to another characters POV, it was often hard to tell who was talking, and if it was supposed to be that way then it did a great job at keeping everyone in the dark.

Now, lets talk about the characters. I didn't like any of them. Kris, the Main character, gets a full-ride scholarship, and is some how able to take a year off whilst keeping the scholarship, not that realistic but whatever. The point is, her character was boring and I didn't buy her "I'm so innocent and naive, yet strong and independent" persona. I am also getting really fed up at being told how smart a character is, while they continue to make really dumb decisions. All the male characters were boring as well. They were either the sweet-boy-next-door type, or creepy stalkers, and they all wanted Kris, even though she more than once goes on about how plain she is next to her best friend.

I didn't know if this book was about Kris finding out she was something supernatural, or about some stalker that was after... someone, to be honest I kept zoning out while reading this. This is one of the shorter books I've read in a while that wasn't a novella but it felt like a 900 page book.

If you like being as clueless as a side character when reading a book, then you might like this one. It was just not for me.

  1. Just the description for it sounded choppy and confusing. I will not be adding this one to my reading list.
