Friday 56: Half-Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout

This is a weekly meme hosted by Freda's Voice

These are the rules:
1. Grab a book, any book.
2. Turn to page 56, or 56% on your eReader.
3. Find any sentence (or a few, just don't spoil it) that grabs you.
4. Post it.
5. Add the URL to your post in the link on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post.

This is a re-read. I've re-read it a few times since the first time I've read it.

Title: Half-Blood
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Series: Covenant #1
Genre: Urban Fantasy/ Mythology/ Romance
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press
Publication Date: September 20th 2011
Source: Purchased
Purchase: Amazon US | B&N

My 56:
"I shifted back down and went back to staring at the ceiling. I was okay. It was great, actually. Being back at the Covenant was far better than being out there in the normal world or cleaning toilets in some pure's house. I rubbed under my eyes, frowning. I was okay.
     I had to be okay."

Synopsis:
"The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.
Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1: Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden.
Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck."

  2. I still haven't read anything by Jennifer Armentrout but I feel like I could potentially get into this. I have been terribly picky in my reading choices since I have a massive mountain of books to get through! Thanks for sharing :) I hope you have a great weekend!

  3. That's an amazing cover. I rarely read mythology, but this sounds like a fascinating story.
