The fates of two nations hang in the balance as Jasminda and Jack must choose between love and duty to fulfill their destinies and end the war."

I received this eARC from NetGalley for review.

This was quite the amazing story. All the characters were complex and interesting. Jasminda and Jack were a great duo, they gave each other quite the balance. Nothing in this book was predictable, every page kept me interested and engaged in the story.

The world this story takes place in is a little steam-punk. While they have things like electricity and automobiles, the dress is still old fashioned, petticoats and such. The lore of the world was a little confusing at times, but it was interesting and like nothing I have ever read about before.

I'm having a hard time expressing what I liked about this book so much. It may be that it is just so different, that I can't help but give it praise since it seems to becoming more and more difficult to write something new.

One thing that leaves me equal parts curious and confused is how there'll be more books considering how this one ended, but I guess that's what the epilogue was setting up.

  1. Warfare is mentioned so it is like modern warfare, magic warfare, or something else?
