The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski

Edge of Never #1
Summary:
"Twenty-year-old Camryn Bennett had always been one to think out-of-the-box, who knew she wanted something more in life than following the same repetitive patterns and growing old with the same repetitive life story. And she thought that her life was going in the right direction until everything fell apart.
Determined not to dwell on the negative and push forward, Camryn is set to move in with her best friend and plans to start a new job. But after an unexpected night at the hottest club in downtown North Carolina, she makes the ultimate decision to leave the only life she’s ever known, far behind.
With a purse, a cell phone and a small bag with a few necessities, Camryn, with absolutely no direction or purpose boards a Greyhound bus alone and sets out to find herself. What she finds is a guy named Andrew Parrish, someone not so very different from her and who harbors his own dark secrets. But Camryn swore never to let down her walls again. And she vowed never to fall in love.
But with Andrew, Camryn finds herself doing a lot of things she never thought she’d do. He shows her what it’s really like to live out-of-the-box and to give in to her deepest, darkest desires. On their sporadic road-trip, he becomes the center of her exciting and daring new life, pulling love and lust and emotion out of her in ways she never imagined possible. But will Andrew’s dark secret push them inseparably together, or tear them completely apart?"

So, I have had this book on my TBR and my tablet for about a year, I just never got around to reading it. Not really sure why I just didn't. So, as I was going through the books I have on there, seriously I have too many books that I just haven't read yet, I decided to finally read it.

Why exactly did I wait so long? This book was so good. It has everything that I feel makes a contemporary romance good.

Camryn feels stuck in life. Her ex-boyfriend died a couple of years ago, her brother is in prison, and her parents have split and her mom is almost acting like a teen with post-divorce her dating life. Everything she's doing isn't for herself, but because it's what people expect from her. But after an unwanted experience happens at a nightclub with her best friend's boyfriend, Camryn packs a bag and hits the road, via Greyhound bus.

Andrew has his share of demons, but the current problem is his father's impending death. To clear his head before he has to see his dying father also hops on a Greyhound bus. From then on, neither of their lives are the same.

This book was so great. It made me laugh, smile, and then cry. I don't really like it when a book makes me cry, people look at you weird when you're sitting there with a tablet, silently crying. Anyways, the way this book was going for the first 90% I was fully expecting it to just be about how two people who didn't know where they were going find each other and a path. Basically, I was expecting it to be all puppies and rainbows.

Then I hit the 90% mark.. and that's when I started to shed tears. The author throws you a curve ball, and that makes all the sweet interactions and happy times all the more sweet, but more of a bittersweet. Because I was suspecting that Andrew was keeping something from her, but I thought it was something like a criminal past, or something dark... not what it turned out to be.

There is a sequel so everything does turn out okay, I just don't like it when authors trick you into reading a book that you think is going to be happier. I still recommend this book to, well everyone.
