A Million Suns by Beth Revis

Across the Universe #2
Summary:
"GODSPEED WAS FUELED BY LIES. NOW IT IS RULED BY CHAOS.
It's been three months since Amy was unplugged. The life she always knew is over. Everywhere she looks, she sees the walls of the spaceship "Godspeed." But there may just be hope: Elder has assumed leadership of the ship. He's finally free to act on his vision--no more Phydus, no more lies. But when Elder learns shocking news, he and Amy must race to discover the truth behind life on "Godspeed," all the while dealing with the love that's growing between them and the chaos that threatens to tear them apart.
Beth Revis catapulted readers into the far reaches of space with her "New York Times "bestselling debut, "Across the Universe." In "A Million Suns, " Beth deepens the mystery with action, suspense, romance, and deep philosophical questions. And this time it all builds to one mind-bending conclusion: THEY HAVE TO GET OFF THIS SHIP."

Wow... such a good sequel. Once again, I waited too long to read this, but this time it was only because I couldn't find it. I am glad that I read it though.

Amy and Elder's relationship is pretty rocky in this book. And while their problems are not the cause of a useless love triangle, which I am very glad for, it mostly because of the residents of Godspeed not trusting Elder because of his age and his attachment to Amy, since Amy is the only one that has pale skin, red hair and green eyes.

There are secrets that Orion left for her to uncover and a decision to make as well, but with the changes that Elder made on how to run the ship, it just brings chaos to everything. Riots and the beginnings of mutiny, murder and crime are making Elder's job even harder. I liked that the struggles weren't only biased on romance, there are some pretty serious issues that Elder has to face, and the struggle is real. You forget, he is barely 16 years old. He is young, even though he is the oldest in his generation.

Amy grew a little in this story, even though sometimes I wanted to push her down a flight of stairs... I didn't hate her, she had moments that she surprised me in a good way. But I think she should have used her brain a little more. There were moments when I thought she should just wake her parents up regardless of what Elder said. I was proud of what she did to Luther, that was pretty great, and he got what he deserved in the end.

There were so many twists and turns in this book. The plot was very fast-paced, often times the second book is slower since the first book is setting everything up the second one slows down or falls flat, this book did not do that. So thank you Ms.Revis, thank you for not giving a slow, dull book. The way it ended I am so very excited for the final book, and a little nervous.
