Until You by Penelope Douglas

Bully 1.5
"Have you ever been so angry that hitting things felt good? Or so numb that you actually felt high? The past few years have been like that for me. Traveling between fury and indifference with no stops in between.
Some people hate me for it, while others are scared of me. But none of them can hurt me, because I don't care about anything or anyone.
Except Tatum.
I love her so much that I hate her. We used to be friends, but I found out that I couldn't trust her or anyone else.
So I hurt her. I pushed her away.
But I still need her. The sight of her centers me, and I can pool all of my anger into her. Engaging her, challenging her, bullying her...they are my food, my air, and the last part of me that feels anything human.
But she left. She went to France for a year and came back a different girl.
Now, when I push, she pushes back."

Well, I defiantly liked this book more. Though I feel the story of Tate and Jared would have been better told in one book rather than two, part of me sees why some authors choose to write one book and then a semi-sequel telling the other side of the story.

It might be that I just liked Jared's character more than Tate's. To me, she was a little whiny and did kind of allow herself to be a doormat for too long.
But one major reason is that we get more of their story of what happened after the homecoming indecent.

Jared's character is pretty damn complex. And in all honesty, I think I can relate to him a little more than I did with Tate. I didn't relate to the drinking and whoring part of his character, but more to the angry bitter part of his character.

I still wanted to slap K.C for doing what she did and not telling her best friend what was really going on, I mean anyone with a brain and two eyes would have been able to notice that she had some deep feelings for him.

There was a good deal of humor in the extra part of the story that included Jax's character and I look forward to reading his story when it comes out. He is one funny snarky kid. And he seems like someone I would have wanted to befriend. I too am snarky when I want to be.

All-in-all this was a great read, quick I read it in just a few hours, would have been faster but I have stuff to do. One of my favorite contemporary series. (Side note, this book has more sexy-time scenes than the first book. As well as more bad language. So keep that in mind when reading this book)
